about

This song is based on the H.P. Lovecraft story The Colour Out of Space.

lyrics

Beyond the woods, no axe had cut
Hidden is the blasted heath
Unspoken by the Elder Ones
Of the poison that lies beneath

First the great rock fell from the sky
It broke all of science's rules
Unknown form of matter
'Cause it shrunk and refused to grow cool

Don't drink the water
Strange days are here

A plentiful harvest too good to be true as bites induce lasting disgust.
Poisonous soil spreading disease. Vegetation crumbles to dust.
Trees twitching morbidly in the night. Unnatural light from the well.
Rainbow of cryptic poison, feverish kaleidoscope from hell.

They built a dam to drown their sorrows, only making things worse
Now forever a haunted tomorrow, the once sacred water is cursed.
